2014 FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN
by ASU Rugby
Our mission is to provide a safe professional environment for players and staff. To year over year be a PAC Collegiate Champion and be one of the premier collegiate programs within the USA. To develop players and coaches that will play and coach professionally in USA and internationally. To attract students from all over the country and have ASU Rugby, be the “Go to” program within the USA for structure, player performance and talent development. To establish board standards and operations that will become a USA standard of operations. To win a national championship within the next 3 years.
In order to do this we have a long and exciting journey in front of us. We see ourselves as a pass through organization, our role being to develop young men to go on to bigger and brighter things. Rugby has a rich history of creating a strong fraternity environment that will sustain young players throughout their lives. I am nearly 50 and still have friends and contacts in the rugby community from when I was 9 years old. Globally today, there are nearly 3 million jobs in the sport of rugby that includes the support roles. (E.g. player, agents, grounds men, stadium designers, accountants, lawyers, marketing folks, advertising, sponsor development, business, accounting, player reps, officials, refs, researchers, statisticians, broadcasters, sales and the list goes on.) Nearly every field out there can be related back to rugby some way or can be touched by our international fraternity. Our players need to be offered the best experience and the best structure so they can move forward in their lives and careers. Rugby is a huge sport, the second largest in the world. There are so many opportunities out there and the doors always open a little easier if one is part of the rugby global fraternity.
It is our role as an organization to ready these young men both on and off the field, to take advantage of these opportunities, and to grow into the young men parents, communities and the young men themselves can be proud of. In essence we are the coal face of this investment into the future generations.
As with a lot of programs out there we have limited funding from the school and are trying to work miracles with very little resources. Our coaching staff of 8 is all volunteers, kids raise money to execute the season and we don’t have money to provide scholarships to increase and help our player base. Most of our games with the best schools and tournaments are out of state. We have a problem funding these trips to these games and in a lot of cases simply can’t go or participate. We are the largest university campus in the USA and should be one of, if not the strongest rugby programs in the country. It is our goal not only to be one of the best, but to ultimately be the best program in the USA. We want students to play in the Olympics, we want our players to go on and play for the USA and we want students from all around the country and the world to make ASU its first choice to come play for. We want our Alumni to say to their children that they played for “THAT” program, a nationally and internationally recognized program; we want to produce generations of fine men that will be both ambassadors to ASU, our program and to their families. To have our students to perform in the largest theaters in the world and to build generations of successful graduates that we can all look on and say we had a hand in that.

I would like to take the opportunity to highlight some of the activities we are doing to build our program:
1. Hot Sauce: Our Very own special Hot Sauce. We won an award for our special recipe, now we are making our own sauce. We will be coming out with a complete range of sauces and salsa's for Rugby. Notice the first introduction is "RUGBY HOT" as it's the toughest sport in the planet, other sauces will be less hot like hockey, football, lacrosse and soccer.
Help us launch this new product range we will seek to sell it in stores and develop a wider range of products, this will become a long term sustainable business for ASU Rugby so PLEASE help us get this started.
