About This Project

Area: Social

This campaign is All-or-Nothing. Humanitarian Notes will accept your pledge-donation now, but you will be charged only if the campaign goal is met.

Description:

We love music. We’re not the only ones. We’ve found the best way to reach youth is through music and their favorite musicians. We focus on working with local musicians throughout Africa to make music that entertains, empowers and educates. In doing this we raise awareness of key issues as well as give musicians a chance to be strong role-models for their community. By allowing the musicians to choose the message they want to spread to their audience, we make the project something that they truly care about. And hopefully something they will continue to think about as they find further success.

Humanitarian Notes is growing. We’ve seen a lot of success, but we know we can reach even greater heights with your help. We’re planning our next project in Durban, South Africa, with aims to reach the youth of this vibrant coastal city. A country with an AIDS rate of over 10%, we want to teach the youth in a way that will stick with them. Through music! We will work with musicians and youth groups to get them thinking about their futures and what choices they are making. The money we raise will go toward workshops and recording the music we make in the course of this project.
