The Portland Hockey Trust provides an opportunity for kids to learn to skate and try hockey at no charge whatsoever. This is a community based program that features volunteer instructors and introduces the wonderful game of hockey to hundreds of children each year. Equipment, ice time, and instruction are all provided for free. If a child is interested in pursuing hockey after 5th grade, the trust will provide a half scholarship for the player to sign up for middle school hockey and continue their career there. Some kids go on to play organized hockey but all share the bond of knowing how to skate and carry it with them the rest of their lives. The Hockey Trust is a not for profit program and has run out of funds. In order to continue this important program, the Trust needs support and donations from the community of Portland. Thank you very much and see you on the ice!!!
