GIVING FIELDWORK ON GIVING TUESDAY

by Polaris Charter Academy

Polaris Charter Academy is founded upon a belief in a hands on approach to education.  Since opening our doors in 2007, it has been our priority to get students out of the classroom to experience the world they are learning about in school.

This school year is no exception.  Polaris students are getting out of the classroom more frequently to engage with the world in which we live.  Students are learning deeply through fieldwork, taking the opportunity to apply what they are learning in school in new ways.

Polaris teachers are spending their Thanksgiving break transforming academic standards into exciting, engaging learning expeditions for the winter and spring. Teachers are planning a multitude of opportunities for fieldwork to bring their expeditions to life.

Whether it is visiting the forest preserves of Cook County as part of the first grade expedition on Illinois habitats, working a day on the farm so 3rd graders can learn how to raise the chickens they are hatching in their Crews, or sending fifth and sixth graders to Birmingham and Memphis to further their understanding of the Civil Rights Movement, there are plenty of ways your Giving Tuesday gift will transform student learning.

Join us on this journey of transforming education.  Take time on Giving Tuesday to give the gift of fieldwork!  Your donation of $25 supports getting one student on the bus.  Give $50 and fill a seat on the bus.  For $100 you can fill a row of seats.  The gift of $1000 gets an entire Crew on the bus.  So get on board.  Giving Fieldwork on Giving Tuesday is the way to go!
