Throughout much of the Midwest, corn-growing communities that “feed the world” are quietly collapsing under the weight of industrial agriculture.
We’re losing farmers, topsoil, and even whole towns while the profits of commodity traders, land speculators and chemical companies continue to rise.
The Real Food Challenge is growing a youth movement to reverse the cycle.
We’re harnessing the millions of dollars universities already spend on food and redirecting them toward local, sustainable and fair food businesses.
Each year, we train thousands of students to enlist their schools in the revitalization of hard-hit rural places.
To date, Real Food Challenge has engaged more than 100,000 young people and shifted $55 million of university spending to ‘real food’ businesses.
Your donation makes this work possible.
To launch our real food campaigns on Midwestern campuses, we will criss-cross the region to offer workshops, organize summits, and provide direct technical assistance.
Doing so requires money for markers and meeting spaces, flip charts and fuel, and amazing staff people.
Join us in building a youth movement for just and sustainable food systems!
